Install AccountingLink for Sage 50 Canada on a local workstation or server

Review the Sage 50 Canada configuration.

By downloading and installing the AccountingLink for Sage 50 Canada utility, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the Sage Construction Management End User License Agreement for Software.
- Sage Construction Management must be configured as follows:
- Sage Simply Accounting is specified in Settings (
) > Company Settings > Profile > Accounting System. - The Country is set to Canada in the Ship To Address and Bill To Address sections in Settings (
) > Company Settings > Profile.

- AccountingLink for Sage 50 Canada:
- Sage 50 Canada must be closed when using the AccountingLink.
The Sage 50 Canada user specified in the AccountingLink Sync Preferences must be either the sysadmin or a user with full rights, including permission to access third‑party products with read/write access.
The Sage 50 file must be stored on the same machine, not on a remote drive or server.
Before you begin
Check which version of the Microsoft .NET Framework is installed on the computer, as follows:

From the Start menu, select Run, enter regedit in the available field, and then select OK.

In the Registry Editor, open the following subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full.
If the Full subkey is not present, .NET Framework 4.5 or later is not installed in your computer.

Find the REG_DWORD entry named Release.
If it exists, .NET Framework 4.5 or later is installed and its value corresponds to a particular version of .NET Framework. For example, release 528040 corresponds to .NET Framework 4.8 on Windows 10.

Download and install Microsoft .NET

Download Microsoft .Net 4.8 from the official Microsoft download page here.

Run the installer and follow the prompts.

Restart the computer if prompted.
- Log in to Sage Construction Management as an Administrator.
- Go to Settings (
) > Company Settings > Profile. - In the Ship To Address and Bill To Address sections, specify the Country as Canada.
- In the External Applications Being Used section, select Sage Simply Accounting from the Accounting System dropdown.
- Select Save.
- Go to Settings (
) > Company settings > Global settings. - In the General Settings section, select Canadian Dollar (CAD) from the Default Currency dropdown.
- Select Save.

Open Sage 50 Canada as the system administrator (sysadmin) and ensure that a password has been set for this login.
A password is required for AccountingLink to connect to the Sage 50 Canada data file.
Passwords must be no more than ten characters. -
In the user profile, set the permission to Read/write Access in the Rights With Third‑Party Products section.

Record the full path and file name of the Sage 50 data file.
This information is required for AccountingLink to establish a connection.

Close Sage 50 Canada.

Download the AccountingLink for one of the following versions:
The AccountingLink version must match the Sage 50 Canada version installed on your computer. -
Follow the instructions to install AccountingLink.
- Open Sage 50 Canada as a system administrator.
- Open the AccountingLink for Sage 50 Canada.
- Enter the login information for Sage Construction Management, including the company ID, user name, and password.
To access AccountingLink, the user must be assigned either the Administrator or Financial Admin security role in Sage Construction Management.

If no connection appears, select New, find your company file, and enter the Sage 50 admin username and password.
- Select Connect.

If the connection to Sage 50 Canada succeeds, a dialog appears with options to import active vendors, import employees, or auto‑link existing records.
These actions can also be performed later if Sage 50 records are updated, such as when archiving former employees.

After completing the import or auto‑linking process, select Sync Preferences and update all the fields as needed.
This is required before running the Sync Wizard.
- Select Save.
