Workers compensation codes

Workers compensation codes are established to track the different types of work employees perform. For example, in the United States, the National Council on Compensation Insurance, NCCI, is an independent advisory organization that develops and maintains the workers compensation classification system used by most states. The NCCI class code system includes approximately 700 different classification codes.

When setting up Sage Construction Management or an accounting system, it is important to establish the correct workers compensation codes and reference them on timecards. This allows management to generate summary reports by code when the workers compensation policy is up for renewal.

In Sage Construction Management, each workers compensation code can include a burden adjustment based on a percentage or dollar markup of the base hourly cost rate. This amount is added in addition to the burden rate defined on the employee or labor detail forms.
