Document back charges using work orders
Work orders (WO) can be used to track back charges for subcontractors. For example, a WO can be issued to Subcontractor B (for example, the drywall subcontractor) to correct an issue caused by Subcontractor A (for example, the painting subcontractor).
After the WO is completed and costs are documented, a subcontract change order (SCO) is issued to Subcontractor A with a negative amount equal to the total WO cost. A corresponding SCO is issued to Subcontractor B with a positive amount for the same value.
