Add a labor item manually
Specify the labor item header information
- Go to Cost DB.
- In the Internal Cost Database Stats section, select the actions menu icon (
) in the Labor Items row. - Select Add Manually.
- Enter the labor Code and Description.
The code must be alphanumeric.
- In the Default Estimating Hours and Rates section, do the following:
- Enter the default Work Hours Per Day.
- Enter the hourly rates for Base Cost, Burden Cost, and Proposal.
The proposal rate is usually equal to or greater than the total hourly cost rate.
- Select Add & Next.
Add classifications to the labor item
Classifying labor items, such as by cost code, is helpful when managing a large number of records. For smaller lists, text search is usually sufficient.

To add classifications, do the following:

For each classification code that you want to add, do the following:
- Select the Classification Type, such as your primary cost code system.
Administrators can manage these options in Settings > Company Settings > Cost Codes.
- Select the magnifying glass icon (
) next to the classification type to view the available codes. - Optionally, select the right arrow next to a code to drill down to a lower level.
Codes can be nested up to four levels deep.

Select the code that you want to use for classification.

Select Add New Line to include more classifications.
- Select the Classification Type, such as your primary cost code system.
- Select Finish.
