Add a Work Assembly
Step 1: Add Work Assembly Header
- Click the Cost DB icon on the left menu.
- Navigate to the Work Assembly row in the Cost Database Stats section.
- Click the Actions button on the far right.
- Click Add Manually option from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the Assembly Code (alpha-numeric), Description, and Unit of Measure.
- Click the Add and Next button.
The remaining steps are optional.
Step 2: Add Labor Item Components
If Labor Items will not be added to the Work Assembly, please click the Skip button at the bottom of the form.
- Optional: Enter text in the Search field to filter. This will search both Code and Description fields.
- Select the Labor Item(s) to be added to the assembly by clicking the checkbox on the left.
- Click the Add and Next button at the bottom.
Step 3: Add Equipment Item Components
If Equipment Items will not be added to the Work Assembly, please click the Skip button at the bottom of the form.
- Optional: Enter text in the Search field to filter. This will search both Code and Description fields.
- Select the Equipment Item(s) to be added to the assembly by clicking the checkbox on the left.
- Click the Add and Next button at the bottom.
Step 4: Add Work Item Components
If Work Items will not be added to the Work Assembly, please click the Skip button at the bottom of the form.
- Optional: Select the Classification System to filter Work Items. This will also require clicking the Magnifying Icon to select the corresponding code.
- Optional: Enter text in the Search field to filter. This will search both Code, Description, and Manufacture fields.
- Select the Work Item(s) to be added to the assembly by clicking the checkbox on the left.
- Click the Add and Next button at the bottom.
Step 5: Add Work Assembly Variables
Variables are used to calculate the overall assembly quantity and components. Thus, at least one variable must be defined.
- Enter the Variable Name, Description, and Unit of Measure.
- Optional: Enter a Default Quantity otherwise leave it zero (0).
- Optional: Repeat previous two steps for additional variables. The max number of variables that can be defined is ten (10).
- Click the Add and Next button at the bottom.
Step 6: Classifying the Work Assembly
Classifying Work Assembly such as by cost code can be beneficial if there are many records. Otherwise, filtering the listing can easily be done via text search.
- Select the Classification Type (eg. your master cost code system). Options can be created by admins in Settings | Feature Settings | Cost Codes.
- Click the lookup icon (magnifying glass) shown to the right. This will open a popup form showing the codes which can be up to four tiers deep.
- Optional: Use the right arrow icon next to the code to drill down to a lower level.
- Click the Code to be used for classifying. Once selected, the system will automatically return to the Work Assembly Classifications listing.
- Optional: Repeat previous four steps to add another classification and code.
- Click the Finish button at the bottom.
Edit Work Assembly Header and Component Equations
Work Assembly Header Equation
- Click the Edit button next to the Work Assembly Details heading.
- Edit the Equation field as needed using the defined Variables.
- Click the Save or Save and Close button.
Work Assembly Component Equations
- Click the Edit button next to the Components section title.
- Edit the Equation fields as needed using the defined Variables.
- Click the Save button.
