Edit a work assembly

Open a work assembly

  1. Go to Cost DB.
  2. Select the total record count number in the Work Assemblies row.
  3. Optionally, use the Search field to filter the results.
  4. Select the work assembly Code to open the record.

Edit the work assembly header information and equation

  1. Select Edit.
  2. Update the Code, Description, or Unit as needed.
  3. Edit the Equation as needed using the defined variables for the work assembly.
  4. Select Save or Save & Close.

Add variables to the work assembly

If your work assembly uses the built-in WAQty variable, do not define any additional variables. This is important for kit-type assemblies, where WAQty must be the only variable present.

  1. In the Variables for Assembly and Component Equations section, select Add Variables.

  2. For each variable, do the following:

    1. Enter the Variable Name and Description.

    2. Update the Default Quantity.

      The default value is zero (0).

    3. Optionally, enter the Unit of measure.

  3. Select Save or Save & Close.

Edit the work assembly variables

  1. In the Variables for Assembly and Component Equations section, select Edit List.

  2. For each variable, update the Code, Description, Default Quantity, and Unit as needed.

  3. Select Save.

Edit the work assembly components and the component equations

  1. In the Components section, select Edit List.
  2. Edit the component Item # as needed.
  3. Update the Equation as needed using the defined variables for the work assembly.
  4. Select Save.

Add equipment, labor, or work item components

  1. In the Components section, do the following:

    • Add equipment items as follows:

      1. Select Import Items > Equipment Items.

      2. Optionally, use the Search field to filter the list by code and description.

      3. Select the equipment items to be added to the assembly.

    • Add labor items as follows:

      1. Select Import Items > Labor Items.

      2. Optionally, use the Search field to filter the list by code and description.

      3. Select the labor items to be added to the assembly.

    • Add work items as follows:

      1. Select Import Items > Work Items.

      2. Optionally, you can filter the work items by selecting a classification system from the Filter Type dropdown, then select the corresponding code using the magnifying glass icon ().

      3. Optionally, use the Search field to filter the list by code and description.

      4. Select the work items to be added to the assembly.

  2. Select Save or Save & Close.

Add classifications

  1. In the Classifications section, select Add Classification.
  2. For each classification code that you want to add, do the following:

    1. Select the Classification Type, such as your primary cost code system.

      Administrators can manage these options in Settings () > Company Settings > Cost Codes.

    2. Select the magnifying glass icon () next to the classification type to view the available codes.
    3. Optionally, select the right arrow next to a code to drill down to a lower level.

      Codes can be nested up to four levels deep.

    4. Select the code that you want to use for classification.

    5. Select Add New Line to include more classifications.

  3. Select Save & Close.

A message shows the number of classifications added successfully and those that failed.
