Labor and equipment productivity calculator

When it comes to estimating, Sage Construction Management tracks costs by type of work (eg. sitework, concrete, electrical) using Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and resource type (eg. material, labor, equipment, sub, and other).

Use the Labor and Equipment Productivity Calculator to determine conversion factors and rates for labor and equipment when the unit of measure (UOM) for the resource is different from the UOM used for the estimate item.

Use the calculator

  1. Open the Details Form for either a Work Item in the Cost Database or an Estimate Item.
  2. Click the Labor and Equipment Calculator link or button shown below the Resource Units and Rates table.
  3. Enter the number of Shifts Per Day (ex. 1 or 2).
  4. Enter the Productivity Quantity.
  5. Select the Productivity Units (ex. Units/Shift) from the drop-down. This must correspond with the quantity entered in the previous step.
  6. Optional: Import Labor Resources
    1. Click the Import button to the far right of the Labor Resources section title.
    2. Optional: Enter text in the Search field to filter. This will search both Code and Description fields.
    3. Enter the quanity for each Labor Item that will be part of the Calculation. This will automatically update the checkbox on the far left.
    4. Click the Save or Save and Close button at the bottom.
  7. Optional: Import Equipment Resources
    1. Click the Import button to the far right of the Equipment Resources section title.
    2. Optional: Enter text in the Search field to filter. This will search both Code and Description fields.
    3. Enter the quanity for each Equipment Item that will be part of the Calculation. This will automatically update the checkbox on the far left.
    4. Click the Save or Save and Close button at the bottom.
  8. Optional: Review the Total Labor and Equipment Cost Rate per the Work or Estimate Items Unit of Measure.
  9. Optional: Review Existing and Calculated Conversion Factors and Rates for Labor and Equipment. The Calculated entries is what will be saved!
  10. Click the Save and Close button at the bottom otherwise click Close to ignore the calculation.
