Remove the MERGEFORMAT switch from a detail report Word template
The \* MERGEFORMAT switch is used to preserve the formatting of the field result after the field is updated. If the formatting is wrong, you need to remove the switch.
Before you begin
- Optionally, show bookmarks in Microsoft Word.
- Download the ZIP with the Microsoft Word template files.
- Open the template in Microsoft Word.
- Hold the Alt key and press F9 to view the field codes.

Find the field with the \* MERGEFORMAT switch.

Delete the \* MERGEFORMAT from the field code.

Hold the Alt key and press F9 again to hide field codes.

Right-click the field and select Update Field.
- Save the template in DOT or DOC format.
