Construction Industry Standard Classification Systems
Standard classification or cost coding structures can vary by market segment (eg. commercial or residential). Below are some popular industry classification systems that can be imported into Sage Construction Management V7.
Masterformat CSI Codes (CSI 95, 2016)
The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is a national association representing specifiers, architects, engineers, contractors, building materials suppliers and others involved in the building design and construction industry. CSI publishes the MasterFormat 95, 2004, and 2016 coding structures. The 2004 edition is the most significant change in its 40 year history. The old Masterformat 95 edition was broken down into 16 divisions and was designed for buildings and construction methods of long ago. Telecommunications is just one example of the need for change.
With the old format, users often created non-standard divisions, such as division 17, to cover areas that that did not fall into the standard 16 divisions. The MasterFormat 2004 structure has new divisions and sections that will make it easier for all involved in the design and construction process to locate information. It also accommodates residential construction, heavy construction, plant construction, and modern green-building initiatives. Additional revisions to the 2004 structure were made in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 but were minor in nature.

Uniformat Codes
Uniformat II Codes are industry standard codes that make up ASTM E1557-97 "Standard Classification of Building Elements and Related Sitework". This coding structure classifies building elements and related sitework in a logical, sequential approach that reflects the order in which a building is constructed regardless of the design, construction method, or materials used. Uniformat II is broken down into 7 divisions and are often used for classifying cost database assemblies.

National Association of Homebuilder (NAHB) Cost Codes
NAHB codes are often used by custom homebuilders and remodelers. This structure is two-tiered and covers all aspects of the construction phase from building permits to completion and inspection.
