Prime contract allowance packages
You can create an allowance package for each scope of work in a prime contract when details are limited but item amounts and internal budgets are defined. Under these scenarios, the client or architect can eventually specify items to purchase and install or the contractor can provide options. In the latter scenario, the client uses the TeamLink Portal to make selections on those options.

About allowance packages
- Options for allowance items must be created in Sage Construction Management, not TeamLink Portal.
- The owner referenced on the prime contract can select an allowance item option in the portal.
- The architect referenced on the prime contract can review allowance packages in the portal, but they’ll be read-only.
- The owners cannot create their own selection option, but this information can be relayed through the messaging functionality that's available within allowance packages.
- After the owner finalizes all selections, a change order (CO) can be created that will include baseline and selected options. The sum will be the difference between the baseline and selected options.

Before you begin
- Ensure that the owner or customer that will be reviewing the allowance package is listed in the project directory.
- Ensure that the prime contract has been created and is marked as Approved with a Status Date. The owner referenced on the prime contract will be the one making the selections on the allowance package item options.
- Job cost codes must be established because allowance items must reference job cost codes.
- Optionally, establish tax codes that can be referenced on allowance items.
