Work orders overview
Project staff can use work orders (WOs) in a variety of ways. For example, they might serve as a daily communication tool for field crews, outlining required work, or as a means to document work directives from the owner.
In either case, both estimated and actual costs can be tracked. Depending on the contract type, wizards can transfer financial details to a prime contract change order (CO), subcontract change order (SCO), or prime contract invoice, eliminating duplicate data entry.
Costs documented in a WO are not reflected in project analytics until the details are copied to a CO, SCO, or prime contract invoice. The table below outlines how WOs are processed based on the contract type.
| Module | Contract type | WO imported into | Job cost impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contract Admin | Fixed Lump Sum | Prime contract change order (CO) | Appr. or Pending Revenue Budget |
| Cost Plus | Prime invoice | Billings To Date | |
| Procurement | Any type | Purchase order (PO), subcontract, or SCO | Appr. or Pending Committed Cost |
