Work Orders Overview
A Work Order (WO) can be used in a variety of ways by the project staff. For example, WOs can be used as a daily communication tool for field crews outlining what needs to be performed or it can be used to document work directives by the owner.
In either scenario, both estimated and actual costs can be tracked. Depending on the contract type, wizards are also available to tranfer the financial details to a Prime Contract Change Order (CO), Subcontract Change Order (SCO), or Prime Contract Invoice, eliminating duplicate data entry. See 'WO Business Process' section below for more details.
WO Business Process
Costs documented in a WO will not be reflected in Project Analytics until the details have been copied over to a CO, SCO, or Prime Invoce. The table below outlines how WOs are processed based on the contract type.
Contract Admin or Procurement | Contract Type | WO Imported Into | Job Cost Impact |
Contract Admin | Fixed Lump Sum | Prime Contract Change Order (CO) | Appr. or Pending Revenue Budget |
Cost Plus | Prime Invoice | Billings To Date | |
Procurement | Any Type | PO, Subcontract or SCO | Appr. or Pending Committed Cost |
